After 12 1/2 years Dorian is no longer with us. Poor boy has been in pain for awhile, every time we would think we needed to take him in, the next day he'd be prancing around with new found strength and wagging his tail. Tonight he was unable to stand up, fell down and wouldn't try again. I sat petting him and talking to him for a long time, his muscles were twitching. Through my tears he was kissing my hand trying to make me feel better. He was truly an amazing dog. I know most of you have only ever heard me complain about his slobber, his stinkiness, his dirtiness, his peeing on furniture....but he always loved me even when I wasn't his biggest fan.
He's been with us since college. He moved into our first house with us, welcomed us home after we got married, was there when each of our babies came home. He let them climb on him, pet him, play doctor with him. He's been there for all of it smiling and loving us.
We will miss him- we hope he's in doggie heaven meeting up with his old friends Uncle Butchie and Uncle Highball running and hopping in the bed of a truck jumping up and biting at all the overpasses.
We love you Dorain. You deserved so much better than us.
